The relative rareness in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in one sense kind of bewildering, in one way or another.
In years before now, the territory was a site where several South Africans would drop by to escape from the especially prohibitive principles on games of chance (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. So, you are likely to bargain on a picture of a booming sector to accommodate that tourist sector.
However, perhaps it is not much of a bewilderment. The region is one of the most barren world wide, having gone through a distressing civil war (followed by crushing floods) from which it is still, very slowly, getting back on its feet. This might make a spot less of a tourist target, as much as there is now a thriving setting along a couple of the city’s attractive beaches.
It is at the same time credible that regionally somewhat, Mozambique’s casinos have had to partake with many others in the recently liberalized South Africa, inclusive of the recognized Sun City founded by the Kerzner family organization.
Here is a list of Mozambique’s casinos:
Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel
There are seventy-eight slot machines as well as video poker games, five tables of American roulette, 4 blackjack tables, and a poker table.
Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino
There are forty slot machines, American roulette, and also 2 tables for poker and also punto banco.
It is thought that over time the entire tourism sector in Mozambique will progress dramatically. While the local languages are, obviously, African, there is added to that the balance of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the current and expanding emergence of English, both from South Africa and as part of the worldwide phenomenon. The country is particularly cheap (naturally, as it is extremely poor) and as above, has some of the most breathtaking beaches on the globe, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the class of things that make tourism agents drool, and as the country advances out of its prevailing slump, it’s likely that not only will tourism boost, but that the list of Mozambique’s casinos will grow longer also.
While the country is not likely to ever regain its notoriety as a focal point for partying South Africans, as there are now other selections closer to home for them to revel in, the expansion of a long distance tourism business is being arranged. This would be to cater to Europeans looking for winter sun, as an escape from the blues of the Northern Hemisphere winter. Additionally, of course, the finest prawns (shrimp) in the world are just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
