There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling hall betting is illegal. Eight casinos are situated in a generally small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent destination, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, financial sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is correct of most borders.
The first Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge casino, features 150 slots and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machine games and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that contains numerous amenities aside from the casino, which offers ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 table games.
