There is an appealing background to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den gaming is banned. Eight casinos are situated in a generally small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent spot, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, investment sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.
The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, features 150 slots and sixty table games. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel building that contains numerous amenities in addition to the gambling den, which contains ten thousand square feet of 130 one armed bandits and 88 tables.
